Our lovely Luna lives up to the Wheaten Terrier's reputation of being fun and family loving, eager to please and a steadfast companion. Now my four-legged lady has just become a mum for the first time, producing nine amazing little plump pups. This blog is about Luna and her pups, and I'm hoping it will also provide a prospective owner of one of our wheaten terriers with a detailed account of their development and some interesting background information on this lovable breed.

Getting handy with the saw etc
As the troops are getting bigger and their old whelping bog a bit shabby, I thought for a few quid I could run up a puppy pen/box. I quizzed the lovely and clever chaps at Kilkenny Building Supplies and they came up with this concept. Simple enough, for a newbie DIYer like myself, but big and strong enough to carry the pups all the way to 8 or 10 weeks, when with any luck they will all go to good homes. It only took a couple of hours to saw the pieces and screw them together. I just have the little hinged door to fit at the front so when they get bigger I can lock them securely but allow access when their mum wants to visit. Their blankets are all in the wash so they had to make do with carpet and an old Financial Times. Sure, it only bad news anyway. Pee away fellas!
